Nuevas Amigas
Auburn - Children First Center proudly announces the receipt of a grant from the March of Dimes to deliver a program with services directed at the Hispanic prenatal population.
Pregnant, Hispanic women may now enroll in the “Nuevas Amigas” program which is free to participants. The program will include individual monthly visits for the prenatal mom, in her home, by a Spanish-speaking Family Support Worker. The visits will offer information about what to expect during pregnancy, how to prepare for baby’s arrival and care, and guidance and assistance in accessing community resources. A special feature of the program will be a variety of free baby supplies for all participants.
As the number of participants increase, monthly meetings will be organized and offered in a safe, accepting environment. These meetings will help mothers-to-be connect with other pregnant Hispanic women to share experiences and provide support for one another.
Children First Center’s programs are based on the premise that all parents want the best for their children. Through its various programs, Children First seeks to partner
with parents to help children become all they can possibly be. Home visiting and other parenting services are offered throughout Northeast Indiana. Children First programs include Early Intervention (children 0 – 3 with special needs); Prenatal (support for pregnant moms); Healthy Families (supporting new parents); H.O.M.E. (reunification, supervised visitation, family preservation); Families First (early literacy mentoring); W.I.C. (nutrition for women, infants and children) and Parenting Classes. A shared feature among all programs is the inclusion of early literacy activities and information.
To enroll, please call 260.925.3865, ext. 127 or 1.800.824.2698, ext. 127. Interested women are urged to sign up as soon as possible; services will begin immediately after sign up.
