Hats & Horses 2020 Update
2020 Event Update: April 10, 2020
Children First Center's annual Hats & Horses is our biggest fundraiser of the year!
As a small DeKalb County non-profit, we count on this fundraising event for our annual budget. Our small-but-mighty team and volunteers prepare for it for many months. This year, our annual event was scheduled on Saturday, May 2, 2020.
Due to the rapid development of the COVID-19 pandemic, Churchill Downs Inc. postponed the annual Kentucky Derby until September 5, 2020.
Unfortunately, we will not be able to host our annual derby party on this date.
We are devastated to share this news with you and are working through the ramifications of this unprecedented situation.
As we all practice stay-at-home procedures to 'flatten the curve' for our communities, the situation has evolved rapidly, and we are committed to do our part to help protect our staff, attendees, and sponsors!!
We understand the gravity of the situation for all of you who participate in Children First Center events and we appreciate your continued generosity and support. This annual fundraiser is essential for Children First Center to continue to offer a full array of comprehensive services to children and their families. We, like many other organizations, are using technology to continue providing services to families in need during these times. Our services include children who have been abused, parents interested in improving their parenting skills, families with newborns, domestic violence victims and families in crisis. The need for these services is important now, more than ever before, as our clients may struggle during these unknown times.
We are currently exploring options to provide a virtual experience or create a fall event.
We would be Honored and Grateful to accept your donation to help Children First Center continue to reach our mission and fundraising goals!! We will follow up in May with a tax letter for your donation. For a refund of your contribution, please email Tracy at by May 1, 2020. Once a decision is made on a future fundraiser or virtual experience we will honor those tickets, contributions and sponsorships and send information out to you asap.
Though it’s true that our May 2020 event will no longer take place in the way that we intended, we continue to strive toward our purpose – "Helping Children Become All They Can Possibly Be!"
